Chorley Football Club are appealing for supporters to get behind a new Crowdfunder initiative to help the with the cost of purchasing a set of pitch covers for The Chorley Group Victory Park Stadium playing surface.
Following the recent twice postponed FA Trophy fixture against Stafford Rangers the club made enquiries and are now in the process of completing the purchase of a set of pitch covers from Vanarama National League side Woking.
The club looked at various options but chose to purchase Woking’s covers as they have been professionally altered so rather than having four large sheets that take around twelve people to manoeuvre into place they have been reduced to twelve individual sections that only require four or five people to position.
They provide protection agianst temperatures down to -5 degrees and are also waterproof.
To help cover the cost of the purchase and transport from Woking, the club is looking to raise at least £2000 from this Crowdfunder scheme. All monies raise will go toward the cost of the pitch covers and any excess will help the purchase of a heavy-duty roller squeegee which will clear standing water from the covers.
Every postponed fixture at Victory Park costs the club money. A good home attendance for a Saturday match would bring in around £12,000 in gate receipts; but the same fixture when switched to midweek might only attract receipts of just over half that amount due to the reduced attendances for evening games.

Many thanks from all at Chorley Football Club.
