Southport striker John Cofie has joined the club on an initial one month loan and will go straight into the squad for Sunday’s return game against AFC Fylde.
The Ghanaian striker came through the youth ranks at Burnley before being snapped up by Manchester United at just 14-year-old for a reputed £1m.
At Old Trafford he played in the same youth sides as Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard and Ravel Morrison, and represented England at under 17 level on three occasions, but failed to make the grade with The Red Devils and following loan spells with Royal Antwerp, Sheffield United and Notts County he went on to sign for Barnsley, Molde (Norway), Crawley Town, Wrexham and AFC Telford United.
He trained briefly at Victory Park in the summer before opting to join National League side Southport, but after just three starts and seven substitute appearances at Haig Avenue he moved on loan to Bradford Park Avenue in November, where he start one game, made two appearances from the bench and scored once.
Welcome to Chorley John.
