He said: “I’m a Chorley lad and have been watching the Magpies all my life. I remember the days of Mick Wearmouth, Ronnie Pickering, John Pearson and the fearless Graham Barrow. As a young boy, these guys were my heroes. He added: “I’m a very proud fan and excited by the times which lie ahead for us. This team has something special as have the people behind it and together we can look forward to more great days in the future.”
Elsewhere, local businessman James Cole is the founder and managing director of World Travel Holdings UK and owner of the brands Cruise118.com, SixStarCruises.co.uk and RiverVoyages.com. He said: “We are a local business based in Chorley, employing over 150 people and supported the club for many years. It’s been a privilege to be asked to help behind the scenes. I am looking forward to working with the board of directors and contributing to the strategic issues that affect Chorley FC.”
Chairman Ken Wright said: “When I met both Michael and James to discuss joining, I was struck by the passion and drive they had for the club. We are delighted both have accepted our offers to join Chorley as directors and we are sure both will make a valuable contribution in the future. As a board, we have a unique relationship with our supporters which embodies everything that is special about non-league football.” Both men already join a strongly assembled team which includes; Jeremy Lee, Glen Hutchinson, Roy Miller, Garry Flitcroft, Dave Yates and Simon Denham.
