Magpies Ground Harriers

Goals from Jack Sampson and Jake Cottrell got the Magpies back on course against second placed Kidderminster Harrier at The Chorley Group Victory Park Stadium.

Both clubs have been the tightest two defences in the league all season and a repeat of the goalless draw earlier in the season would have surprised no-one, but an excellent lofted finish from Sampson and a moment opportunism from Cottrell secured three vital points.

The win keeps the Magpies fourth on a day where six of the top eight sides in the league won, only Kidderminster and Tamworth (away to Telford) lost.

Next up for the Magpies is the Partners Foundation Lancashire FA Challenge Trophy semi-final when we face North West Counties side Ashton Athletic at Lancashire FA’s HQ in Leyland, on Tuesday evening, kick-off 7.45pm.  The winner will face either Radcliffe Borough or Clitheroe at the Macron Stadium on Tuesday March 21st.

Next Saturday we are again at home when we host Alfreton Town in the National League North, kick-off 3pm.
