The Magpies will hope to make it two from two on Tuesday night when they entertain Salford City at Victory Park in their second Conference North tie of the new season.

Chorley came away from Aggborough with a hard-faught 1-0 win over last season’s runners-up Kidderminster Harriers, in a match that saw new signing Matt Urwin pull off a string of unbelievable saves to keep the home side scoreless.

Salford on the other hand suffered a setback in their opening game, losing 2-0 at home to Darlington.  They were unable to capitalise on a number of chances but with last season’s club top scorer Mike Phenix and attacker Ritchie Allen remaining at the club for this new season they remain a force to contend with.

Matt Jansen gave us his thoughts ahead of Tuesday night: “Saturday’s result was definitely a decent grounding to work on ahead of this game.  We’ll have to see how everyone recovers.  Salford are a very strong side, they’re spending a lot of money and they’re trying to buy their promotion.

“But we’ll go into that game full of confidence following Saturday’s result.  That’s what we’ve got, we’ve got confidence.  We’re a great team and we’ll be looking to pick up some more points.”

A big crowd is expected at Victory Park for this game with a decent away following in attendance so make sure you get there early to enjoy the pre-match atmosphere and show your support for the Magpies.
