PREVIEW | Boston United

The Magpies will go into Saturday’s trip to Lincolnshire desperate to make amends for that heavy defeat to Harrogate Town on Tuesday evening.

That result sees Chorley sit in 14th place in the National League North standings with four points from as many matches and they face another long journey this weekend to play Boston United.

Boston have also won the one game so far this season, a 3-1 win over Alfreton Town, sandwiched either side of a shock 4-0 opening day defeat to Southport and a 2-1 defeat to Tamworth in midweek, so they will also see this game as a great chance to move up the table with a victory.

Jake Cottrell scored Chorley’s only goal on their last visit to York Street in February but the former Football League side won that tie 3-1.  The previous game ended in a 2-0 victory for the Magpies, thanks to goals from Dale Whitham and a Josh O’Keefe penalty, almost a year ago to the day.

Matt Jansen felt that the 4-1 score line flattered their hosts Harrogate Town on Tuesday night and has asked his side to take the positives from that game into Saturday.  He will also use this game as the start of his promise made to the Chorley supporters: “I’ve said it before – I just wish we had a little bit more composure when we’ve got the ball.

“We don’t have to rush things so much.  We get into good positions and sometimes try to pick a killer pass and run at players, which we did a couple of times in the first half, and the defenders backed off, but we sometimes lack a bit of composure.  We’re working on that so hopefully we’ll get better over the next few weeks.”

The match kicks off at 3pm and if you’re unable to attend you can follow all the action on our Twitter feed by following @ChorleyFC, and Facebook by searching for the Chorley FC page from 2pm.
