FA CUP | Skipper ready for cup clash

The Magpies will be putting the National League North to one side on Saturday, as the FA Cup takes precedence when Matt Jansen’s men make the trip to North West County Premier Division side Ashton Athletic.

Chorley entered the competition in the previous round and comfortably beat Stalybridge Celtic 3-1 in a convincing away victory.

Meanwhile, Ashton Athletic have had to play four matches to reach this stage of the competition, and have claimed a few scalps along the way, including a 2-1 victory over Bamber Bridge in the first qualifying round back in early September.

The match on Saturday is sure to be a spectacle for both sides, with the BBC announcing the game at Brocstedes Park will be broadcast live on the red button and on the BBC Sport website. As a result, the match will now kick-off at 12:30pm.

Club captain Andy Teague is really looking forward to the tie, which will be the first time Chorley will be broadcast live.

“Everyone’s buzzing for it. We know what Ashton Athletic are like after we played against them last season in the Lancashire Cup. They played really well that day and beat us on penalties, so we cannot afford to take them lightly. If we go out and perform like we know we can, regardless of it being in front of the BBC cameras, we should go through to the next round of the competition.”

Admission which is pay on the day only is £8 for all adults and £3 for children with no concessions  whilst we are also running supporters coaches to the game which is £5 for all seats and will leave Brindle Street at 11am.

With just one more round after this match until the first round proper, there is much on the line for both sides in front of the BBC camera, with a potential Football League side in the waiting.
