LFA TROPHY | Semi Finals Await the Magpies

Chorley secured their safe passage into the semi-finals of the Lancashire FA Challenge Trophy for the fifth consecutive season on Tuesday night, with a 2-1 victory over Bamber Bridge.

A crowd of 434 witnessed a local derby which had everything you’d expect from two sides separated by just seven miles.  The home side, who sit third in the Evo-Stik Division One North and cruised past National League North Side Southport 7-0 in this competition already this season, started brightly and took the lead through star man Alistair Waddecar.  But a goal from the in-form Matty Hughes and a 90th minute strike from Nick Haughton ensured  the Magpies safe passage into the semi-finals and bragging rights over Brig until the next time.
The draw for the semi-final of the competition is on Thursday, with the winners set to contest for the final at Bolton Wanderers Macron Stadium. Potential opponents are Evo-Stik Premier side Lancaster City, who are going steady in the league after promotion last season and sit 13th as well as Evo-Stik Division One North Clitheroe. A potential Chorley derby could be on the cards however, as Charnock Richard are in the hat for the semi-final draw having come over their quarter final tie against Padiham 3-1
