Wayne MADEN

Central Defender

Defender with considerable experience and joined the Magpies from Hyde United in 2009.

Was appointed club captain following the departure of Tom Spearritt early in the 2009/10 season and lead by example and went on to picked up both the Players Player and the Supporters Player of the Year awards for his consistent displayed throughout the season.

However the last two seasons have been disrupted by long term injuries.

A young keeper who displays experience way beyond his years and has performed well when called upon since his arrival from Leigh Genesis in the summer of 2010.

Ally joined the Magpies from Radcliffe Borough in September 2011.  An exciting full back who and was a product famed football academy at Gresty Road.

Can play on either side of the back four and is always a threat when going forward.

Shelton PAYNE

Position: WINGER, FORWARD

Former clubs: Cardiff City, Crystal Palace, Blackburn Rovers, Dinas Powys, Port Talbot Town, Trafford, Chorley, Hyde FC (loan)

Signed from Trafford prior to the pre-season friendly with Bolton Wanderers, Shelton is regarded as one of the fastest players in non-league football.

The 21-year-old scored 15 goals in 27 appearances for Trafford during 2009/10.

A delighted Garry Flitcroft said on his signing: “Shelton is a very exciting talent and I’m sure our fans are going to love watching him play.

“He’s got blistering pace, bags of skill and a decent eye for goal, and I’m confident I can get the best out of him.

“He can play on either wing or up front and his arrival means we have now got competition for places all over the park.”

LEFT THE CLUB IN JANURY 2012 TO PLAY FOR COLWYN BAY

Simon WHALEY

Position: Winger/Forward

Former clubs: Bury, Preston North End, Norwich City, Bradford City, Chesterfield, Burton Albion

A massive signing for the club as he was playing Championship football just two seasons ago, and at just 26 years old he is young enough to potentially return to that level.

26-year-old Simon joined the Magpies at the start of the 2011/12 season after a brief trial with the club.

Started his career with Bury, making 84 appearances for the Gigg Lane club, netting eleven goals before switching to then Championship side Preston North End for £250,000 in January 2006.  In 3 ½ years at Deepdale Simon chalked up 120 appearances in the Championship plus 11 in the cups, bagging 17 goals.

After a stint at Barnsley on load Whaley moved to Norwich City for a reported £250,000 in July 2009.  Things didn’t work out in East Anglia and in the two years since Simon has drifted through spells with Rochdale, Bradford City, Chesterfield, Doncaster Rovers before finishing last season at Burton Albion.

Lee McEVILLY

Position: Striker

Former clubs: Burscough, Rochdale, Accrington Stanley, Wrexham, Cambridge United, Barrow, Grays Athletic, Marine, Sligo Rovers, Burscough, Droylsden

International Honours: Northern Ireland; Under 21 (9 caps, 3 goals), Under 23 (1 cap), Full International (1 cap)

Joined the Magpies in the eve of the 2011/12 season after ending the previous campaign with Droylsden.  A big old fashioned centre forward.

Nathan FAIRHURST

Position: MIDFIELDER

Former clubs: Preston North End, Wrexham

Born and raised in Chorley, Nathan is a former Deepdale apprentice who made a permanent move to Wrexham in the Blue Square Premier in August 2009 following a successful load spell the season before.

First team chances were limited at the Racecourse Ground and Nathan joined the Magpies following the club receiving international clearance in late August 2010!

Nick MEACE

Position: DEFENDER/MIDFIELDER

Former clubs: Wigan Athletic

Signed toward the end of the 2010/11 pre-season buildup, Nick made his debut as a subsutiutue in the six goal victory over Woodley Sports.

He started as a junior with Manchester United, but after just one season he moved onto Blackburn Rovers, from where he joined Wigan in 2007.

Although from Smithills in Bolton, he has been offered Polish citizenship by their FA due to his grandmother being from the country.

Mark HOUGHTON

Position: FORWARD

Former clubs: Southport, Skelmersdale United

Mark was Garry Flitcroft's first non-Leigh signing during the summer of 2010.

A highly rated young striker who played Conference North football for Southport in 2007/08 after progressing through their successful PASE academ.

In his two season at Skem he bagged around 40 goals at a strike rate of a goal every two games.

Jordan STEPIEN

Position: FORWARD

Former clubs: Bury, Nuneaton Borough, Burscough, Leigh Genesis

Jordan is a young and gifted striker signed who switched from Leigh shortly after Garry Flitcroft made the same move.

Garry said on signing Jordan: “Jordan scored twenty-odd goals for Leigh last season and he missed the last eight games with an injury. Had he stayed fit, we probably would have made the play-offs."

Lee WOODYATT

Position: DEFENDER

Former clubs: Chester City, Droylsden, Barrow, Leigh Genesis

A former Welsh Under 19 youth international, Lee joined Chorley from Leigh shortly after Garry Flitcrofts appointment as manager of the Magpies and his displays at right back made his a firm favourite with the supporters.
