Chorley 1-2 Warrington Town 17/04/2010

Saturday April 17th, 3pm

Warrington were the end of season party poopers as they collected the prizes on the pitch prior to the seasonal awards being awarded off it after the game.

Before today only Lancaster City (currently 2nd in the league), Colwyn Bay (3rd), Curzon Ashton (4th), Skelmersdale United (5th) and Leigh Genesis (6th) had left Victory Park with all three points; indeed Champions elect FC Halifax Town had to settle for just a point at the end of August.  So although Warrington's win wasn't something anyone at Chorley would have welcomed, it remained that only teams to beat us on home turf as the tables stands were teams from the top seven!

The game started brightly for the Magpies, who had the better of the opening 45 minutes with Lee Shillito having two efforts saved by the keeper either side of Alex Porters goal, who slide the ball beyond the keeper into the for corner having been setup by Reece Kelly.

After the interval it was Warrington who commanded the game, equalising just seconds after the restart then taking the lead mid-way through the second half.

Chris Amadi and sub Danny Nolan both saw chances go just the wrong side of the wood work; Amadi heading a Porter corner just over and Nolan driving just inches wde.

XI: Zac Hibbert, Chris Smalley, Tom Walker, David Thompson, Wayne Maden, Reece Kelly, Lee Shillito, Aiden Kirkbride, Steve Burke, Chris Amadi, Alex Porter

Subs: Craig Carney, Danny Nolan (Porter), Criag Worrall (Walker), Jamie Nay, Stuart Howson

Att: 268

Goals: ALEX PORTER (25), Gavin Salmon (46, 63)
