Radcliffe Borough 1-0 Chorley 22/08/2009

Saturday August 22nd, 3pm

A third minute strike from ex-Magpie Eddie Stanford was enough for Boro to claim all three points against an under performing Chorley.

In a disjointed display, Chorley rarely put Boro in a prolonged attack, and the front two often found themselves isolated.

Chris Amandi came close on 22 minutes to equalising; hitting a powerful drive just over after dispossessing Stanford, but Zac Hibbert had to be alert at the other end almost immediately, tipping over an Adam Roscoe effort.

A Chorley break saw an Amandi shot blocked, and Danny Nolan slicing his chance just over the angle of post and bar.

Just before the interval, Hibbert had to be at his best to prevent Boro doubling their lead following some slack defending in front of him.

After the interval, Josh Kenworhty was brought into the action in place of Martin Clark, adding more pace to the attack, and within minutes of his arrival he sizzled a shot just over from 25 yards.

Kenworthy then combined with Jamie Holme to put Anandi through, but he would have been better squaring to Terry Fearns, who was starved of the ball all game, rather then shooting wide.

In the final minute temperatures rose in a centre circle scuffle, which resulted in Anandi and another ex-Magpie, Lee Unsworth, picking up yellow cards.
