Cammell Laird 3-0 Chorley 22/09/2009

Tue September 22nd, 7.45pm
League Cup 1st Round

Chorley fell out of the League Cup at the first hurdle with a three-nil defeat at Kirklands and saw James Mullineux sent off in the final minute.

From Saturday's line-up, Chorley made five changes and Lairds made six.  This shows how managers look upon this competition when the FA Cup on on the horizon!

Things were looking comfortable for stand-in manager Lol McMahon, in charge as Steve Waywell took the opportunity to watch Saturday's FA Cup opponents Ashton United, until the introduction of striker Ronnie Morgan, who single handedly won the match for the home side.

Chorley had their chances when the scores were level, but a couple of good saves by Richie Whiteside and some less than accurate shooting let the Magpies down.  Mully's sending off was the salt in the wound and he'll probably server a 3 match ban (to be confirmed), starting on Tuesday October 6th.
