FA Trophy Preliminary Round

The Magpies won their first FA Trophy tie in ten seasons and progress to face Boston United at York Street in two weeks time.

All eyes were on the returning Jamie Vermiglio who played in the heart of a brand new Chorley midfield alongside fellow new signings Josh Rothwell and Alex Kozlowski, and all three impressed.

Chorley controlled the first half and were unlucky to only go in at half time with a single goal advantage after have two clear penalty claims turned down and seeing numerous chances either save, cleared, or go high  or wide.

Vermiglio shot wide early then shouts for handball  were rejected by the official.

Vermiglio was then push into the middle of next weeks FA Cup tie, but the referee again disagreed with almost everyone else!

Chris Amadi was the usual unpredictable back of tricks, and win the freekick that resulted in the opening goal.  Vemriglio took it quick and Rothwell darted for the bye-line to cross into the box, and home defender Lawton toe poked the ball home with no-one near him, gifting the Magpies a goal they just couldn't quite manage themselves.

The second half wasn't a fluent as the first, with the relentless wind and heacy pitch making controlling the ball difficult.

Dale equalised seven minutes after the restart with their first and only real attempt on goal in the game.

Possession in the second half was more even, with Chorley not as cohesive as the first period; which was understandable consider we had three debutantes in midfield.

With a replay looking more and more likely it was down to Terry 'The Hitman' Fearns to tap home at the post followng an excelling cross from the impressive Mark Rogers, notching up his eleventh goal of the season from twelve starts!

Bring on Boston!
