Chorley 3-2 AFC Fylde 20/10/2009

Tuesday October 20th, 7.45pm

Chorley returned to the bread and butter action of the UniBond League and recored a 3-2 win over AFC Fylde in what was an excellent advert for non-league football.

Chris Amadi opened the scoring on ten minutes, tapping home from close range after goal machine Terry Fearns unselfishly squared the ball across the six yard box after rounding the keeper.

Amadi should have added to his opening goal, but wayward shooting in once instance, and not releaseing the ball early in the second meant the scored line remained one-nil despite Chorley preasure as Fylde were reduced to attacking on the break with on the long ball.

Fearns miss kicked his best chance when Amadi returned the earlier favour and Danny Nolan was mightily unlucky to be yellow carded for diving when under pressure from two defender as he broke into the box; a situation in which many other referees might have awarded a penalty!

Chorley were left to rue their missed chances as Fylde turned the game on it's head with two strikes on the break at the end of the half totally against the run of play/

Chorley came out at the start of the second half looking to get back into the game and it only took ten second half minutes for the goal to arrive when Amadi double his evening tally, and indeed doubled his seasonal tally to four with a straight forward strikers finish.

From here on the game opened up as both sides looked for thre three points.  Fearns forced the visiting keeper into an excellent save on twenty minutes, and Fylde saw three chances go narrowly wide.

The winning goal came from the player most supporters want to score, but is often the one least likely to do so!  Josh Rothwell's corner delivery into the box was inch perfect and James Mullineux's flying header screamed into the back of the net.

This win moved the Magpies from 15th to 11th in the league with games in hand on the vast majority of the teams above and below in the league...  Bring on Prescot!
