Chorley 1-2 Colwyn Bay 31/10/2009

Saturday October 31st, 3pm
League

Chorley’s run of defeats extended to three games with a two-one loss at home to league leaders Colwyn Bay.

The score line doesn’t to the game any justice.  At two-nil down Chorley were reduced to ten men on 68 minutes when Chris Amadi was dismissed for raising his hands against the visiting keeper.  James Mullineux then headed home from a corner to bring the Magpies back into the game

Then, still chasing and equaliser Reece Kelly followed Amadi down the tunnel when red carded for dangerous play, meaning the Magpies faced the final five minutes, plus six further injury time minutes with just nine players against a fully complimented league leaders!

Added to all this there were two controversial moments in the game when the referee allowed play to continue while home players were pole axed on the pitch!

Despite the numerical difference, Chorley still presses for an equaliser with Zac Hibbert up field for a series of corners almost getting his head to one in swinging ball.

Prior to the first red card Chorley were very much in the game.  An opportune strike from an acute angle by MacAuley just before the half hour mark was all that separated the sides at the interval.

The second goal came when the referee awarded Bay a free-kick following a back pass that many other referees might have turned a blind eye to as it wasn’t intended.  When the dead ball was struck Amadi took the full force and collapsed to the pitch and play didn’t stop until the visitors fired themselves into a two goal lead.

The other injury incident occurred late in the game when Adam Kozlowski was caught in the throat accidentally by a Bay defender.  He lay on the pitched appearing to gasp for breath, but the official waved play on so the now eight man Chorley had to battle on depleted!
