Chorley fought back from a goal down to record a fourth consecutive league victory and reduce the deficit on league leaders Chester, who lost at Lancaster City.
After going a goal behind to a Dempsey free-kick the Magpies responded in superb fashion to equalise just two minutes later when Adam Roscoe headed home a Tom Ince free-kick.
Steve Foster netted the winning goal with just under ten minutes to go when he capitalised on a mistake by ex-Chorley keeper Phil Priestley.
Today’s victory (a seventh league double of the season) combined with Chester's loss means the gap between the two clubs is now down to just six points.
