Coaster out class Chorley
Chorley FC where soundly beaten on Tuesday night as they were thumped 3-0 by promotion rivals AFC Fylde at Kellamergh Park.
The Magpies made changes to the squad that was beaten at Harrogate Railway at the weekend; Lloyd Rigby, Mark Ross and Mark Houghton replaced the injured Lloyd Rigby, Andy Teague and Steve Flitcroft, while Lee Shillito was brought back in from his loan from Rossendale United to take his place on the bench.
The Coaster, in their all white Real Madrid styled kit, were the quicker team out the blocks where winning every ball, and it was no surprised when on ten minutes Paul Jarvis opened the scoring for the Coasters as his screamer of a shot took a deflection which left Lloyd Rigby flat footed in goal.
The Magpies could of equalized when a Tom Ince free kick was met by the head of skipper-of-the-night Andy Russell, but despite it appearing to go over the line the officials didn’t give the goal much to the anger and disappointment of the travelling supporters.
Half time saw no changes to the Magpies, and in the early exchanges the visitors should have had a penalty when Matt Jansen, through on goal, was brought down. The referee who was a good 10 yards behind play waved play on believing that ‘Janny’ had fouled the defender.!
Garry made the change not long after with Shelton Payne replacing the ineffective Mark Houghton.
Fylde then grabbed a second. Chorley born pair Tom Cahill and Michael Barnes combined and Cahill netted with a lob over Rigby to double the Coaster’s lead.
The last real chance for the Magpies came when a Tom Ince free kick went just wide. For the rest of the game the home side dominated and added a third with 12 minutes to go as again Barnes supplied Cahill to finish.
The Magpies now slip below Fylde to fourth in the league and face the divisions inform side on Saturday when second placed Skelmersdale United visit The Chorley Group Victory Park Stadium.
