Chorley 0-1 Bolton Wanderers 31/07/2012

Tuesday July 31st, 7.30pm

The Magpies pre-season continued with a home game that saw the first defeat of the summer.

Bolton Wanderers sent a side that was packed with Premier Reserve League experience and provided a stern test for Garry Flitcroft’s team.

A goal just ten minutes from time was all that separated the two sides in a keenly contested game.

Bolton’s front two had early chances, with Tom Eaves being denied by Andy Robertson and Michael Sweet shooting wide before Chorley’s Steve Foster snatched the home side’s first effort wide.

Andy Teage side footed straight at the keeper late in the first half then headed over early after the interval.

Kieran Walmsley blasted a shot toward goal from 20 yards which keeper Jay Lynch held well.

A raft of changes were made and one of the players introduced, Tom Williams, turned his marker and shot from close range but saw his attempt at scoring against his home town club blocked on the line.

Bolton had their chances and Adam Blakeman headed in a cross to seal the win in the 80th minute.

Chorley forced a series of corners as the final whistle approached but an equaliser did not materialise.

Next up for the Magpies is Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday August 8th, kick-off 7.30pm
