North Ferriby United 1-0 Chorley - 27/04/2013

Saturday April 27th, 3pm

Two shots from Darren Stephenson and a penalty for the hosts were the only clear cut chances after ninety minutes of continuously interrupted football.

Despite the referee’s whistle being on overtime, Chorley dominated the ball and had they had something other than professional pride to play for then the competitive extra edge that was otherwise missing today might have tipped the result in their favour.

As it was, it took a 41st minute penalty, netted by the league’s leading marksman Ryan Kendall, to separate the side and edge North Ferriby closer to the league title, a position that on today’s performance looks false!

Earlier Stephenson had two gilt edge chances; shooting wide in the opening minute when played in by Adam Roscoe, then ten minutes later forcing a smart fingertip save from Adam Nicklin.

With a vastly superior goal difference North Ferriby now just need to match Hednesfords result next Saturday to lift the title, and as they are at home to a suspension hit Ashton United compared to Town travelling to Fylde you wouldn’t bet against the men from the side of the Humber.

Finally, congratulations to Jamie Vermiglio who made his 200th appearance for the club; well-done Vermo!
