Ashton United 2-1 Chorley - 26/03/2014

Wednesday March 26th, 7.45pm

After the joy of smashing five past Nantwich, it was back to earth with a bump tonight as Ashton United grabbed all three points with a winner just ten minutes from time.

After going a goal down from a corner in the 9th minute Chorley battled back and should have got something out of the game.

James Dean had a goal wrongly disallowed for offside despite receiving the ball from an Ashton United back pass mid-way through the first half, but just seven minutes after the break the home net was rippling with the ball in the back of it as captain Andy Teague levelled the score.

Despite have a fair proportion of the possession, Chorley failed to find another way through the Ashton backline, while on the break the home side were dangerous with a side packed with pace.

The title race is now wide open with the top four sides separated by just three points and with all teams having eight games to play there is a long way to go in this championship battle.
