A superb goalkeeping performance from Grantham Town’s Danny Haystead denied the Magpies a certain three points with a string of excellent saves.
The home sides man of the match almost single handedly (and no doubt two handedly as well) ensured Chorley only returned to Lancashire after coming from a goal behind to equalise.
After a quite first hour Greg Smith netted the opener for the home side, headed past Sam Ashton as the Gingerbreads hit on the break.
After this the Magpies pinned the Grantham back for long periods, but striggled to find a way past the inspired Haystead.
However, just three minutes from the end, substitute Adam Mather’s looping headed sailed into the net for a deserved equaliser.
Elsewhere the chasing pack were all playing at home. Skelmersdale netted three times in the final five minutes to beat Whitby four-two; Fylde beat Barwell by a single goal; a goal two minutes from time gave Worksop a narrow three-two win over Ashton United while FC United dispatched Ilkeston Town four-one
