The Magpies impressive home record was extended in comfortable fashion as Harrogate Town were despatched from The Chorley Group Victory Park Stadium following a four-nil home win.
The goals in the opening half hour meant the game was a good as over with an hour remaining.
Josh Hine’s pace ripped open the visitors defence in the opening minutes and when he latched onto a superb pass from Dale Whitham his cross looked destined for James Dean in the middle of the six yard box, but a moment of keystone cops defending saw a clearance ricochet off one team mate and onto Shane Killock who could only thigh the ball over the line for the opening goal!
Chorley were well on top and the Harrogate defence looked shacky at best, but their front line were still a treat and on 17 minutes a speculative effort from 20 yards cannoned off the foot of the post before Chris Doyle cleared the danger.
Five minutes later though Whitham had better luck from similar range.
James Dean did well on the edge of the area and was teeing up a shot for himself which keeper Phil Barnes was positioning himself for; the Whitham nipped in a curled the ball into the corner catching Barnes cold and the defence ball watching.
Five more minutes passed and it was three.
Again the defence was caught napping allowing Darren Stephenson the freedom of the penalty area. The striked calmly turned and struck an unstoppable shot under Barnes for his first goal of the season.
Before the break Dean could have added a fourth, but his effort went inches too high, then at the other end Sam Ashton pulled of a smart tackle inside his own area to ensure the three-nil scoreline remained.
After the break Harrogate toiled to find a way back into the game with no luck, while the Magpies looked to control possession and see out the game with an eye on Monday night’s trip to Hyde.
Two minutes into injury time Deano added the fourth, smashing the ball in beyond the unprotected Barnes so complete the rout and record a sixth successive home victory for the Magpies.
