Chorley U18’s maintained their 100% winning start to the season after a hard fought battle against Vauxhall Motors.
It was the visitors who took a grip of the game from the kick off as Chorley looked a little out of sorts with passes going astray and shape not being kept. However neither keeper was really tested until Vauxhall played some nice passing football which culminated in a fantastic strike and a brilliant save with Kyle Haslam managing to keep out at full stretch.
Into the 32nd minute and Chorley were awarded a soft penalty and after some confusion into who was going to take it Ryan Farnworth eventually put the ball on the spot and beat the keeper to put Chorley into the lead.
This seemed to settle the Chorley team down as the midfield trio of Alex Green, Ryan Farnworth and Callum Darcy took a grip of the game and brought the wide men of Jordan Darr and Callum Rigby into play. With those two pushing up it allowed sole striker Lewis Kelsall to by busy and pull the Vauxhall defence from one side to the other.
Into the second half and Chorley came out on all cylinders, pushing the visitors back and where quickly rewarded as Alex Green scored his first of the day on 52 minutes with a bullet header from a corner. Lewis Kelsall had done his job for the day and was replaced by Nathan Young.
In the 54th minute Alex Green doubled his tally for the day with a thumping shot from distance, his team mates claimed it was a clearance but Alex assured us he mean’t it.
Chorley then started to ring the changes as Danny Simm and Michael Laithwaite replaced Callum Rigby and Harry Wood on the left hand side. 5minutes later and Tashan Morris came on to replace Jordan Darr on the right.
In the 80th minute Vauxhall as Chorley in the first half were awarded a soft penalty and Haslam almost kept it out saving with his legs but for the ball to spin over the line.
This seemed to wake Chorley up as they stepped up another gear and with a great passing move that started from Haslam in goal the ball eventually fell to captain Alex Green who’s shot from the edge of the box found the back of the net.
Soon after the full time whistle blew in what was again a fantastic game of football.
