On a mild Friday evening Chorley FC travelled up to Heysham to meet NLDCC in their second LFA Floodlight league and after a good game came out on top to return to the top of the league on goal difference.
With a number of players rested Chris Worthington looked to utilise the squad and rotate a number of players in not necessarily their main position.
The NLDCC side must of noted the 11-0 win against Bamber Bridge as they sat back and blockaded the defence to counteract the attacking Chorley FC. This appeared to work very well as time and time again Chorley where unable to get into the final third of the field and trouble the opposition keeper. After 30minutes Chorley made 5 changes which looked to kick the lads on as the chances started to come however NLDCC did breakaway a couple of times and started to have a real go at going forward.
Half Time 0-0
Into the second half and the message from the Worthington was to push on and test the NLDCC defence and this paid off, in the 50th minute as Chorley won a free kick 25 yards out. Bule stepped up and hit a wonderful strike which came off the underside of the crossbar onto the keeper and into the back of the net. This really spurred the Chorley team and it didn’t take long for Chorley to double their lead as Joe Rolls picked the ball up at the edge of the box before curling it around the keeper into the top corner.
Into the 65th minute and against the run of play NLDCC were awarded a contentious penalty and the striker stepped up and wrong footed Rigby leaving him at a standstill. As with Chorley the goal really lifted the NLDCC side as they continued to push forward and got there equaliser in the 70th minute.
With both teams now going for the winner the game really kicked into life, going from end to end but it was always Chorley who looked the likely to score and in the 83rd minute the goal came as Jabbar smashed the ball past the keeper from close range giving him no chance.
