NEW MANAGER FOR UNDER 18's

Following the resignation of Kevin Kealey as manager of the Chorley FC Under 18 squad, the club has recruited a new man to take the reins and to continue the excellent work that has already been done.

After speaking to several candidates, we are delighted to announce that Ben Howard will be managing the team with immediate effect.  Ben has had lots of experience at this level of the game, being involved in managing and coaching for over twelve years.  He has also demonstrated a desire to continue the excellent work already implemented by Kevin Kealey and his backroom staff.

Ben told Paul Metcalfe: “I’m excited to get going.  I was attracted to Chorley as it is a big, ambitious club.  It is moving in the right direction and I’m keen to be part of that now and moving forward.”

Ben will now be working closely with Kevin in this transitional period in order to make arrangements for the forthcoming season.  He is quick to praise his predecessor: “I’d like to thank Kevin for leaving the under 18 squad in a stable and healthy condition.”

Looking forward to the coming season, Ben added “I like to get the best out of the lads and want as much success on the pitch as we can.  We all get out of it what we put in – this is good for the club as well as each individual player.”

He has inherited a good core of players from Kealey and plans to hold some trial and friendly games throughout the summer to encourage new talent. More information about dates and times will appear on the website once they have been arranged.

Ben will join Martyn Tate, who is in charge of our newly formed U15 and U16s teams as well as David Chadwick who will continue his excellent work as our Development Squad manager.  This means that at Chorley FC we will have opportunities for local footballers from the age of 14 to play for the Magpies and to be part of our ever-growing family.

We would like to place on record our appreciation to Kevin Kealey and his team for the hard work and dedication shown over the last twelve months.
