CHORLEY FC are delighted to announce that club captain, Matt Urwin, has put pen to paper on a new, long-term deal to extend his stay with the football club.

Matt signed permanently for the Magpies back in January 2019 having impressed on loan from Fleetwood Town and has never looked back since.

The 30-year old has tallied up a total of 285 appearances to date with 98 clean sheets to his name. Matt played 41 times in 2023/24 with 14 shut-outs across the campaign.

Matt, being the club captain and bringing a wealth of experience to the table both on and off the field is a signal of our intent going into the new season and it's fair to say manager Andy Preece was made up to get this deal over the line.

"I'm absolutely delighted to have gotten this deal over the line with Matty. He has been a big cog in our machine over the years and to be able to retain him with us ahead of the 2024/25 campaign is massive for us.

Matty has provided many a memorable moment for us over the years, so many players these days tend to jump ship for one way or another and all being well, the season ahead will get him over the 300 appearance mark which is nothing short of outstanding.

Our club captain, Matty brings bags of experience to the table both on and off the pitch and I've no doubt the fans will be just as happy as I am to keep him on with us - it was an absolute no-brainer to keep him on board and I'm so happy to have completed the deal."

Congratulations Matty - we look forward to seeing even more of you in a Chorley shirt!
