A first-half goal from Yusifu Ceesay on Saturday afternoon was ultimately enough to see the Bulls run-out 1-0 winners at the Magpies' expense at Edgar Street.
Chorley started the game brightly and on the front-foot.
A well-driven shot from Momodou Touray inside the box was well-saved by Tom Donaghy in net inside the opening two minutes of the game.
However, it would be the hosts who would get the opening goal against the run of play.
A corner from the left-hand side would see a goal-mouth scramble fall to winger Yusifu Ceesay, who turned the ball in at the near post in the tenth minute.
From then on, the Magpies would look to get back into the game, although Hereford would look the more likely team to score next.
Matt Urwin was forced to keep the Bulls from doubling their lead, making a fine one-on-one save to deny Dylan Mitchell.

Both sides’ chances were few and far between from then on to half-time, largely coming through shots from distance.
In the second half, Hereford would start with much of the momentum in the game.
Jason Cowley forced Urwin into another fine save at his near post following another corner for Paul Caddis’s side.
Chorley would then come close just after the hour mark, a fine delivery by Courtney Senior from the left found Murray Campbell's head, but unfortunately, he could not keep his head down.
Urwin, who made a variety of fine stops throughout the second half, would produce his best on the line late into the second-half, somehow keeping the ball out in the 87th minute.
The Magpies will be looking to bounce back at the Grant Store Victory Park stadium next Saturday when Rushall Olympic are our visitors.
