A warm welcome to Chorley Football Club to our brand-new kitman, Stephen "Cowley" Cowell who has come on board ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Pete Tscherewik sat down with Cowley during the off-season, as a starting point to introduce himself to our supporters following his departure from Vanarama National League side, AFC Fylde.

"First of all I'd like to thank AFC Fylde for the three years I had with them, I thoroughly enjoyed my time there - the fans and staff were good people and winning the National League North title was a special moment for me.

I've seen from the outside what's going on here at Chorley and it's pretty amazing. Now that I've got my foot in the door it's clear to see that the people around the place have a real, raw passion for the club and hopefully this is the beginning of an amazing journey."

Cowley is all-smiles upon embarking on this new journey with the Magpies (David Airey)

Cowley, a life-long Preston North End supporter, fulfilled a dream of his to go through the motions over many years to become their kitman and feels now is the perfect time to join up with the Magpies.

"Preston has been a massive part of my life, I supported the club both home and away for decades and now my daughter and grandson are massive supporters as well. I used to do the commentary on the games for BBC Radio Lancashire and to then transition into being the kitman for the club was an amazing journey, one I will never forget.

I feel like now for the first time in a while I've got my mojo back, it feels like when I was at Preston that things are really going somewhere here. When you go through Chorley Town Centre, you feel like they deserve a football club and you can't help but feel like it's all just waiting to happen.

The togetherness here is different class and I hope that I can add in a small way to what's already going on at the club. It really does feel like everybody is on a mission and I want to be a part of that, I'm very excited to be here at Chorley and can't wait to get started."

We hope you'll join us in offering a very warm welcome to Cowley ahead of the 2024/25 campaign in what is a very exciting time to be involved with the Magpies!
