CHORLEY FC can confirm that Jack Rice has left the club and has agreed to join Taunton Town on a permanent basis, for an undisclosed fee that also includes a sell-on clause.

Since signing back in June 2024, Ricey made 13 competitive appearances for the Magpies, before a long-term injury hindered his first team opportunities.

Following his return, the attacking midfielder spent a month out with the Peacocks will now move on to the Somerset side on a permanent basis.

First team manager, Andy Preece, had the following to say regarding Ricey's departure.

"Ricey's chances have been limited, he's just been unlucky, he picked up an injury at the worst possible time and missed eight or nine weeks, missing out when we hit a great run of form.

I'm a bit gutted because he hasn't been able to show what he can do, I feel like there is a player there but you look at the lads we've got at the minute and it's going to be tough for him to get in here.

Ricey goes with our best wishes, and, if he does well we've got a good sell-on clause because I just feel there is something there - but, we felt only right to let him go in this moment and wish him all the best."

Jack wished to pass on the following message following his departure from the club.

"Firstly, a huge thank you to all the fans for your unwavering support of both me and the team.

It’s been a challenging journey, and although things didn’t go exactly as planned, I truly believe this club is heading in the right direction.

I’m proud to have played for Chorley FC. A big thank you as well to my teammates and the staff for welcoming me with open arms and helping me grow along the way. All the best, Magpies!"

Thank you for your contributions, Jack, everybody at Chorley FC wishes you all the very best for the future.

A special thank you to Wustle Enterprises Limited for also sponsoring Jack this season.
