PREVIEW: Hereford (a)

AFTER some wicked, wet and windy conditions last weekend in the Isuzu FA Trophy, where the Magpies progressed into the fourth round of the competition with a tie against Forest Green to look forward to in January.

However, we now turn our eyes back to the Vanarama National League North action, where we make the long journey down to take on Hereford.

Having played the Bulls earlier this season at the Grant Store Victory Park Stadium, we will be looking to get two extra points after drawing at home.

The Opponents

Hereford currently sit eighth in the table with two games in hand on the Magpies.

The Bulls have three wins in their last five games, with two defeats against Chester and Oxford City.

Furthermore, their most recent victory came at home against Rushall Olympic, winning in fine fashion 3-0.

Andy Williams is the club's top scorer this season, with five goals so far. His last goal came at home against Marine in a 4-0 victory.

As for the player creating these chances for Williams and others, Alex Babos is leading the Bulls' assist chart so far this season.

There have been five assists so far for the midfielder, and they will undoubtedly have to be a player for the Magpies to keep an eye on.

The Manager

Paul Caddis is very new to management. The former Birmingham defender joined the Bulls last season, which became his first managerial role in charge of the first team. He did gain experience elsewhere at Fleetwood Town as an academy coach.

Before retiring from football in 2021, Caddis played for several clubs, including Celtic, Dundee United, Swindon Town, Birmingham City, Blackburn, Bury, and Bradford City.

A word from Preecy

“A really tough test in the offing away at Hereford. It’s a really difficult place to to go and we are well aware of the threats that they pose.

We have had a week to rest, recharge and prepare ahead of the game and hopefully will be able to come away with the right result come Saturday evening.”
