FIVE star Chorley were ruthless in breezing past Rushall Olympic at Dales Lane on Saturday afternoon to secure their all-important playoff place.

Chorley started proceedings well but were caught out by a counter=attack, with Roddy McGlinchley heading home expertly just after 11 minutes with the hosts first effort at goal.

However, the Magpies responded well having gone behind.

A corner by Adam Blakeman, flicked on by Mark Ellis, saw Kole Hall finish superbly to bring Chorley back level.

Then, following the continued front-foot play by the visitors, Blakeman had the opportunity, through a free-kick, to put Andy Preece’s side level.

Thirty-five yards out, and an absolute screamer off the bar and in it was, Scott Moloney had no chance.

Chorley went into the break a goal to the good but still had plenty of work to do.

The Magpies came out flying after the restart. A Blakeman free-kick was delivered to the back post, which Ellis again headered across to Hall, who took an unbelievable touch before hitting it on the volley into the top corner. It was a truly world-class finish by the Bermudan international.

Tom Carr then made it four with an equally impressive finish; controlling it on his chest before expertly striking on the volley, Moloney, again had no chance.

There were just thirteen minutes left to play, and Carr had a brace, Hall headered back across to the striker, and the number ten headed home to make it five.

The Magpies now have a playoff eliminator home tie to look forward to against King’s Lynn Town on Tuesday night.
