FOLLOWING a derby day draw with Southport, the Magpies now focus on a midweek clash against 15th-placed Scarborough Athletic, who fell to defeat against new league leaders Chester at the weekend.
The last time the two sides met was back in August, and the hosts for Tuesday's clash came out on top at the Grant Store Victory Park Stadium.
An early goal from Craig Hewitt would be cancelled out by Richie Bennett in the 50th minute then a last-minute winner would follow from Frank Mulhern.
The Opponents
The Seadogs have just one win in their last five games, with their only win coming against Farsley Celtic.
Following their last league game on Saturday, Chester would visit the Flamingo Land Stadium and put four past Scarborough Athletic in a six-goal thriller in total.
Dom Tear would grab a brace in that game and would continue his fine goalscoring form this season.
Tear is currently the club's top goalscorer with ten, with Harry Green and Luca Colville following behind on four.
Green also leads the assists tally on four, with Colville close behind on three.
Tear will be the one to watch this Tuesday, with Green being a significant creative threat.
The Manager
Jonathan Greening had a very successful playing career. He started at York City before moving to Manchester United, where he made 14 appearances for the Red Devils.
Furthermore, the former midfielder played at clubs such as Fulham, Middlesbrough, West Brom, Nottingham Forrest, Barnsley, and Tadcaster Albion.
Greening took the Seadogs job back in 2021. In his first season as head coach, he led the club to promotion from the Northern Premier League and won the North Riding Senior Cup.
Since then, he led Boro to an impressive eighth-place finish in the National League North in the 2022/23 season.
After a bright start to this season, Greening will be looking to build upon such a positive start this Tuesday at the Grant Store Victory Park.
A word from Preecy
“It’s important we remain positive and now look ahead to a tough, Tuesday night clash away at Scarborough Athletic. A game we fell to defeat in at home earlier in the season, having been ahead - so, we’ll have that game in mind and for sure, we know the threats that they pose and we’ll have to be right at it to get the right result.”
