PREVIEW: Warrington Town (h)
Published on  Updated on

AFTER our exit from the Emirates FA Cup last weekend, we now turn our attention back to Vanarama National League North action for our first home game in 28-days against Warrington Town this Saturday.

The Opponents

Warrington Town are the visitors, and it will be a tough challenge.

Newly appointed manager Paul Carden is back in charge of the Yellows after a stint away from the club.

The Yellows sit 19th in the National League North and will be looking to win their first game in five.

This season, Warrington Town's top goalscorer is Matthew McDonald, who has scored three goals in the league.

Connor Woods and Mike O'Neill are close behind, with the pair having two goals between them.

The Manager

Paul Carden has only recently returned to the Town after two stints at two clubs.

Being in charge of AFC Telford United from 2021-2022 before taking charge at Nantwich Town from 2023-2024.

So far in his management career, Carden has only had one genuine long spell in charge of one club: Warrington Town.

At his previous clubs, Cambridge United, Southport, and Tranmere Rovers, he was not in charge for more than a year.

However, the former midfielder enjoyed a wonderful playing career where he would play for several clubs, such as Blackpool, Rochdale, Doncaster Rovers, and many more.

After his 1-1 draw against Spennymoor Town in his first game in charge of the Yellows, it will be tough opposition, considering little is known about what to expect when facing a new manager.

A word from Preecy

"Warrington Town did the double over us last season, they always pose a tough, tough test and now they've brought Paul (Carden) back in as manager. Paul knows the club inside and out and we'll have to be at our best to get a result. I am very excited to finally, be back at home again this weekend."
