THE Magpies cruised to a comfortable 3-0 win over Curzon Ashton at the Chorley Group Victory Park Stadium.
A very bitty first half failed to get going until the dying embers. Ollie Shenton skimmed a shot wide for the Magpies and Will Hayhurst shanked an effort over for the visitors, with neither goalie troubled.
That was until the 38th minute when Shenton found himself alone in front of goal. Chris Renshaw made a terrific save to deny the midfielder, but top scorer Connor Hall was on hand to tap home his 12th of the campaign.
Hall went close again as the half came to a conclusion, but Renshaw was equal to his low effort off another promising attack.
Chorley remained on the front foot in the second half, putting the game to bed with two goals in four minutes. Mike Calveley grabbed his first of the season at the back post following a storming run from Will Tomlinson on 62 minutes, before Shenton finished into an empty net after Billy Whitehouse hit the upright.
The visitors rallied briefly thereafter, however, only a speculative Marcus Poscha overhead kick went anywhere near troubling Matt Urwin, who registered his fourth straight home clean sheet, in what was a sixth home win on the spin for Andy Preece’s side.
