AS we approach the two-month mark of the season, I’m delighted to reflect on what has been a positive start for Chorley FC. Eight games in and we find ourselves sitting 3rd in the league table—a fantastic start that reflects the hard work and commitment of our players, coaching staff and everyone behind the scenes. Despite a few setbacks, including losing some key players—one very late in pre-season—our team has maintained its hardworking culture and strong identity. An identity which is instilled in all that we do. Credit to Preecy and Ando for being astute in their transfer business, ensuring that we remain competitive. Of course, it’s only early in the campaign but there’s a positive feel about our well balanced squad.

In addition to our league success, I’m pleased to say we managed to overcome a tough challenge away at Mossley in the FA Cup. While a trip to Spennymoor in the next round might not be everyone’s ideal draw, it’s another North East club, and who knows—it brings back memories of our famous run when we beat Gateshead on our way to the fourth round. Could it be an omen? We’d have much preferred a home tie, especially as five of our last six FA Cup games have been away, but we’ll take the challenge as it comes.

This competition is so special to us as a club. The memories of ‘that’ cup run and seeing the videos of the team singing Adele’s "Someone Like You" still give me goosebumps! Maybe another memorable cup journey is on the cards? Dootson, now our COO, who was our goalkeeper coach at the time (and unofficial videographer), often reminds me how his phone didn’t stop buzzing during those magical moments.

Off the pitch, our attendances continue to rise, which is a testament to the growing and consistent support from you, our amazing fans. Even on away days, you’ve shown up in great numbers—special thanks to the "Fab Four" who supported us at Brackley! Your backing has been tremendous, and it's fantastic to see so many of you, especially children, coming through the gates at Victory Park. The atmosphere, particularly during the Kidderminster game, was electric. A big shout-out to the drummers and singers who brought extra enthusiasm to the stands!

There’s also plenty happening behind the scenes, with exciting developments across the club. Our Community Foundation continues to grow, and we’re immensely proud of the many projects gaining momentum. The Foundation recently employed its first full-time staff member, and you can expect to see more of their fantastic community work integrated into your matchday experience. This is a major step forward for us as a club, and we're excited to see the impact it will have.

On the business side, we are continuing to work closely with our owners to develop plans that will ensure we remain competitive in this highly challenging league. Upgrading the ground is a significant focus, but our training facilities remain a key area of concern, and we are determined to address this to keep the club moving forward.

The changes in structure to our Magpie Nest has brought an improvement to the match day experience for our supporters. We are serving a variety of food and now able to keep up with the demands of the crowd. The ‘kitchen’ is now also open through the week offering local people a take away service with an impressive menu to choose from.

Another welcome change with more positive feedback is the transfer of the club shop to inside the ground on a match day - the away kit has been particularly popular!

Overall, the positive atmosphere around Chorley FC is undeniable. We’ve made a fantastic start to the season - with your continued support, the vision and direction of our owners and the hard work of the people in and around the club, it makes for a promising season, Let’s keep this momentum going, both on and off the pitch.

Up The Magpies!
