AFTER a weekend away from pitch-action, the Magpies are back on home turf after our midweek win against Scarborough Athletic last Tuesday.

Chorley are now unbeaten in their last six games, following that deserved win against the Seadogs, particularly after oming from behind twice to win 2-3 with goals from Mark Ellis, Mike Calveley and Dubem Eze.

The Opponents

Buxton have been in some positive form recently with three wins in their last five league games, they will be heading to the Grant Store Victory Park Stadium full of confidence.

Their three wins have all come in the last three, with wins against Southport, Darlington, and Marine.

The Bucks most convincing win was a 1-4 away win against Marine at the Marine Travel Arena.

Tom Elliot is now the club's top goalscorer and has racked up an impressive eight goals so far this season, with Connor Kirby, who follows close behind on seven.

Former Magpie, Josh Popoola, Kirby, and Elliot all lead the way with six assists, which shows the threat of Buxton's attack.

Elliot and Kirby will undoubtedly be two players to watch this Tuesday. Elliot has a combined 14 goals and assists this season, with Kirby just one behind on 13.

The Manager

John McGrath is the manager and has only been in charge since May of this year after being in charge of Mickleover.

The former Irish under-21s international only recently entered management after retiring from playing in the 2022/23 season.

Having come through the Aston Villa academy, Mcgrath played for clubs such as Doncaster Rovers, Shrewsbury Town, Kidderminster Harriers, Tamworth, Burton Albion, and others.

So far this season, the 44-year-old is doing a fine job securing the Bucks in fifth. As of last season, when Buxton finished 14th, it's impressive to see the work that the Irishman and his staff have been able to do so far.

However, Chorley will be looking to climb back above the visitors this Wednesday and re-secure fifth place.

A word from Preecy

“A tough game in prospect, we know the threat that Buxton pose. They’ve been flying recently, have recruited well and of course, are now a full-time team this season on top of that. A good win last time out and we’re confident coming into this one, but, are more than aware that we’ll have to be right at it from minute one and will need the support to get behind us under the lights.”
