NINE games unbeaten and an opportunity this weekend to make it ten.

The Magpies take on South Shields this weekend, and the last time these two met was back in September a six-goal thriller.

Elliot Dickman’s side came back from behind twice to salvage a point at the 1st Cloud Arena, Sam Hodgson scoring a 95th-minute equaliser.

This time around, Andy Preece’s side will be looking to secure all three points, following on from such a dominant display against Brackley Town on Tuesday evening.

The Opponents

The Mariners sit 14th in the table and have struggled in their last five games, with only one win, albeit against current league leaders Chester.

Paul Blackett is Shields’ top goalscorer so far this season.

The 26-year-old has 16 goals so far this season and will look to add to his impressive tally this weekend.

On the other hand, Kyle Crossley is leading the charts in creative output with six assists so far this season. The winger will be another player to keep a close eye on this Saturday.

The Manager

Elliot Dickman has been in charge of the Mariners since December 2023, initially coming in as the interim head coach.

After some good results, South Shields appointed the 45-year-old coach as manager until 2026 in May.

Prior to joining up with the Mariners, Dickman had not had any experience as a first-team head Coach. He gained valuable experience at Sunderland and Newcastle as a youth-team manager.

 A word from Preecy

“A fantastic win in midweek against Brackley Town to maintain our unbeaten run, and winning streak. South Shields pose a tough test, and we’ll have to be at our best to keep the momentum going. Elliot is a fantastic manager, they’re a top side and we’re really looking forward to it."
