A Tom Carr brace secures win for the Magpies at the expense of League Two side, Bradford City.

Chorley got off to the perfect start with Tom Carr putting the Magpies in front within the opening minute of the match through a low side-footed effort from inside the box.

Andy Preece's side continued to dominate the opening ten minutes, with Jack Hazlehurst dictating play through the midfield and some great defensive play from the Magpies' backline.

Chorley’s attacking threats continued through Kole Hall, who held the ball well before playing in Hazlehurst, but his shot sailed just over the bar.

Bradford had a few chances of their own in the opening 45', with some good link-up play between Sarcevic and Young resulting in a superb block from Trialist A, who got down low to clear the danger.

Later in the half, a long throw-in from Trialist A forced a goalmouth scramble with the Bradford keeper missing the ball, allowing Tom Carr to score acrobatically to get his brace and doubling the Magpies' lead before the break.

The hosts played well after the restart but Bradford started to enjoy more of the ball, with Matt Urwin being forced to save a powerful shot by Tyler Smith to maintain their advantage.

City continued to threaten the Chorley defence, with Wadsworth’s curled cross finding Smith, whose headed effort forced another superb save from Matt Urwin before the linesman raised his flag.

Chorley’s defence held on well as they withstood a strong spell from Bradford City, allowing the Magpies to play themselves back into the game.

The Magpies fought to the final whistle as the game ended 2-0 to the hosts. Preece’s men will now turn their focus onto their next game against Thornton Cleveley's on Tuesday night.
