CHORLEY left King’s Lynn Town frustrated on Saturday afternoon, as Andy Preece’s side put the squeeze on the Linnets’ playoff push.

The Magpies started brightly, immediately taking the game to Adam Lakeland’s side with an aggressive, front-footed approach.

Lynn gradually settled into the contest, but on-loan midfielder Cody Johnson was forced into a last-ditch challenge to deny Tom Carr a clear route to goal.

Preece’s men continued to press for the opener, and moments later, Mark Ellis struck the post with a tame header from an Adam Blakeman corner that caught the hosts off guard.

Johnson was again alert, this time denying George Horbury on the counter in a game where clear chances were few and far between.

Both teams came out with attacking intent after the break, but in truth, neither goalkeeper was truly tested for much of the half.

Chorley saw half-chances fall to Kole Hall, Horbury, and Mike Calveley, offering the visitors encouragement as they searched for a late winner.

Lynn’s best opportunity came through former Southport midfielder Josh Hmami, who curled an effort toward the far corner only to be denied by Matt Urwin’s superb fingertip save, his first real involvement of the match.

Both sides remained solid defensively right up to the final whistle, ultimately sharing the points in a tight and hard-fought encounter.
