TWO goals from the Magpies wouldn’t be enough as the visitors struck back twice to get level and take a point on the road.
It was a bright start from Chorley, with Mike Calveley finding the opener within five minutes.Following a free-kick, Mark Ellis found Calveley, who took the time to set himself before smashing it into the bottom corner past Ross Fitzsimmons.
The second then, didn’t look too far away with the Magpies in control, pressing forward, and causing troubles at the back for Scunthorpe.Andrew Boyce would test his luck with the officials with two strong challenges, which would eventually be given as he looked to target Tom Carr.
Scunthorpe’s best chance of the game came in the 38th minute. The ball fell to Kian Scales, who turned and got his shot away before it was comfortably saved by Matt Urwin in goal. Then, just before the break, Callum Roberts would score a peach of a freekick into the top left corner from the edge of the box.
Chorley would be frustrated going into the break being level after dominating the majority of the first half. The second half would start the same as the first. The Magpies were rewarded for their persistence, barely five minutes later to regain the lead.
Courtney Senior would strike from the edge of the box, and it would be parried into the direction of Jack Sampson, who would comfortably tap it home.
The visitors would then be back level on the 64th minute with a smart move down the left-hand side, which would be crossed in by substitute Mo Fadera and calmly headed home by Danny Whitehall. In the end, Scunthorpe thought had won it with a chance in the 91st minute falling to Mark Beck, who would head it onto the bar from five yards out.
Before that chance, Matt Urwin produced two fine saves, with the last one being tipped onto the bar.A big point at home once again for the Magpies as Chorley now turns their attention to Tuesday against Oxford City.
