Three goals for Chorley were enough to see the Magpies through to the third round of the Isuzu FA Trophy at the hands of Marine AFC by three-goals-to-one.

The game began with both teams feeling each other out, neither able to create any clear-cut chances in the opening 10 minutes.

Dubem Eze took the Magpies' first opportunity with both hands, burying a powerful strike into the bottom right corner, giving Andy Preece's side an important lead 20 minutes into the game.

Matt Urwin was called into action just five minutes later, producing a crucial save to deny Marine from inside the box.

Chorley were left to rue two missed chances in quick succession just before half-time.

Tom Carr, twisting and turning, found himself one-on-one with the keeper, but his shot sailed just wide.

Moments later, Clarke had a shot on the edge of the box, only to see it crash against the crossbar and go over leaving Chorley a goal to the good at the break.

Marine came out strong after the restart. A whipped cross was expertly controlled by Doyle, who chested it down before volleying it towards goal. Urwin reacted quickly, spreading his body to make a vital save.

Just 12 minutes into the second half, Carr produced a moment of brilliance, beating his man in the corner and delivering a precise ball into the box. Momodou Touray seized on a goalmouth scramble to double Chorley’s lead.

Much of the play after was concentrated in the midfield, with both teams searching for a goal but unable to create any clear cut chances.

In the 75th minute, the Magpies made it three. Carr again working his magic down the left wing before squaring the ball. Touray then dummied it intelligently, allowing Horbury to blast the ball past the Marine keeper.

Just before full-time, Marine got a consolation goal through Harvey Gregson against the run of play to reduce the deficit to two for the away side

The game ended with Chorley comfortably seeing out the remainder of the game as they beat Marine 3-1 to progress into the third round of the Isuzu FA Trophy.
