A Danny Ormerod strike was enough to send Chorley back to the summit of the Vanarama National League North table, following a 0-1 win against Farsley Celtic at Buxton on Tuesday evening.
It was a slow start to proceedings at the Tarmac Silverlands Stadium, with both teams taking their time to settle into a rhythm.
The Magpies kept the ball well and moved it around neatly, but Chorley’s best chance of the game was not until the 35th minute.
Mike Calveley played a perfect ball through to George Horbury, which was controlled well before Horbury would deliver a cross along the floor, which Danny Ormerod would control, but his effort went just wide.
Then, just a minute later, Adam Henley nearly put Chorley in front. A clean strike on the half-volley would be well saved by the Farsley keeper.
In the second half, the Magpies started on the front foot.
Danny Ormerod would give Andy Preece’s side the lead six minutes into the second-half with a trademark strike into the far corner.

The Magpies would then look to further extend the lead by two, with Dubem Eze curling an effort towards the top corner, but Kieren Flavell made a super stop to deny the youngster.
The hosts struggled from there on out and would later go down to ten when an off-the-ball incident with Ryan Watson and Mike Calveley saw the former shown a straight red by referee Kavan Hurn.
With tonight's win, the Magpies return to the top of the league table, and third-place Curzon Ashton will visit the Grant Store Victory Park Stadium on Saturday afternoon for a first versus third clash.
