Leamington came out on top against the Magpies to claim all three points in a scrappy affair at the Your Co-Op Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon that ended 3-2 to the hosts.

Chorley and the hosts took time to settle into the game. Owen Farmer was the one to break the deadlock, the former Wolverhampton Wanderers man finishing off a clinical
move.

Six minutes later, Tim Berridge doubled the lead for the Brakes.

Henry Landers' free-kick was whipped low and with the clearance falling perfectly to the striker, he smashed it home with his weaker left foot, which left Matt Urwin helpless in net.

However, there was a bright spark towards the end of the first half. Kole Hall headed home an Adam Blakeman corner which gave the Magpies belief heading into the break.

Following the interval, Leamington restored their goal back to two within a minute of the restart.

After a ball into the box was blocked by a Chorley defender, Ewan Williams fired home smartly.

The Magpies did not back down, Adam Blakeman got the opportunity on the edge of the box to smash home a low driven free-kick past Callum Hawkins who could do nothing about it.

Chorley continued to push forward after the second goal but were well kept out by a well-organised Brakes’ back line.

It would end in defeat for Chris Anderson’s side, with Andy Preece suspended, but Chorley now have an opportunity to rest with having no game on Tuesday, and can fully focus on Chester at home on Saturday.
