CHORLEY continued their strong showing in pre-season with a comprehensive 1-4 win against Prescot Cables on Tuesday evening.
Goals were spread across the attacking players on the night, Mo Touray, Kole Hall, Jack Rice and Tom Carr all on the scoresheet.
The Magpies started well on the front-foot, early joy from Jack Rice as he got a quick shot off, saved comfortably by the goalkeeper.
Despite the early pressure, Matt Urwin was then called into action to make an outstanding save from point-blank range to deny the hosts the opening goal.
Less than a minute later and Chorley were ahead though. Another goal in pre-season for Mo Touray, on his Birthday, no less. An excellent solo effort, running in behind then placing a shot into the far-corner.
Andy Preece's side then went two goals to the good after 15 minutes, Touray turned provider this time to lay off to Kole Hall who unleashed an almighty strike from 25-yards that flew into the top corner, no chance for the goalkeeper.
The Magpies continued to kick on as the clock edged towards the interval, Hall hitting the crossbar as he looked to follow up a smart move from Touray and Rice, the latter forcing a great save out of the goalkeeper.
Persistence would eventually pay off before half-time though for Rice, firing in a curling effort after a great pass to tee him up by Hall.
Five changes were made at the break, Touray and Carr both going close quickly after the restart. Noel Brindle looked to have grabbed the fourth goal, tapping in from close range, only to be adjudged to have fouled the goalkeeper.
Cables then got a goal back through their number 16, who broke free before lobbing Matt Urwin via the crossbar.
Carr then tied up proceedings in the final ten minutes, a great effort into the far-corner after some excellent build up and running down the right from Liam Birchall.
