CHORLEY FC are delighted to confirm that Sam Bird has signed on with the Magpies following his recent departure from League One outfit, Stockport County, subject to international clearance.
Having progressed through the youth ranks with Fleetwood Town, Sam signed his first professional deal with the Cod Army in April 2021.
From there, loan spells with Farsley Celtic and Hyde United followed before signing for the Hatters in the summer of 2023.
The 21-year old went out on loan to Stafford Rangers in August of last year before signing permanently with Scottish League One side, Stirling Albion.
Able to play both at right-back and in the heart of the defence, Sam brings versatility and a wicked long-throw to the table.
Manager, Andy Preece had the following to say upon completion of the deal.
"Sam came in at the end of last season to train with us. He impressed us with his attitude and ability.
We invited him back this pre-season and has featured in all of our pre-season games so far.
He’s showed he can play a number of positions and performed really well and
what about his long-throw, wow!
Another hungry lad with lots of potential who fits into our player profile.”
Congratulations Sam and welcome to Chorley Football Club, we can't wait to see you out on the pitch in the famous black and white stripes!
